The Connectathon is the healthcare IT industry's largest interoperability testing event. The full range of profiles defined in the IHE Technical Frameworks are tested each year in a carefully organized and supervised environment involving more than 70 vendors and more than 130 healthcare IT systems. During a Connectathon, participants' systems exchange information with systems from many other participating organizations, performing all of the transactions required for the roles they have selected, in support of defined clinical functions.
SIS Anesthesia, a system that automates data collection and documentation requirements through a real-time graphical interface, successfully completed the 2009 Connectathon. In doing so it proved its capability to transmit a patient's data securely to the right physician or system at the right time in the correct format.
"At SIS we are interoperability experts - we have to be," said SIS Chief Technology Officer
The HIMSS09 Interoperability Showcase featured state-of-the-art interactive demonstrations showing how applications share patient data across a range of healthcare settings. More than 70 clinical information systems came together and exchanged patient health information electronically - from application to application, system to system, and setting to setting - across multiple healthcare enterprises, securely and accurately.
