80th Anniversary Power of Possibilities Breakfast Honors the Children's Center of Wayne County

DETROIT, May 20 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- To commemorate the 80th anniversary of The Children's Center of Wayne County's service to children and families in Midtown Detroit, a Power of Possibilities Breakfast is being held on May 21, 2009 at the Westin Book Cadillac.

Embarking on its 80th anniversary, The Children's Center reflects on the ideologies of founder Senator James Couzens. His intention was to support and heal children in the Detroit area who were abandoned, abused or alone with little hope for survival. There are many parallels of 1929, to the current economic dilemmas we are facing in 2009.

According to Debora Matthews, CEO of The Children's Center, "Like James Couzens believed 80 years ago, we also believe a community can be measured by how they care for its weakest souls... children; children who through no fault of their own - but merely by circumstances are denied their childhood and robbed of their potential. We believe that the generous citizens of our community will ensure the future of The Children's Center for the next 80 years."

500 invited guests comprised of supporters, civic, community leaders along with presenting sponsor Ford Motor Company will join The Children's Center on the momentous day.
