Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Presents National Forum: 'Children's Health: The Future of Food & Nutrition Policy'

WASHINGTON, May 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tufts University Gerald J. & Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy will present a national forum on June 1st in Washington, DC on the most pressing nutrition and health policy issues affecting children.

Tufts' faculty experts in nutrition will join academic, corporate and government colleagues for an in-depth discussion entitled: "Children's Health: The Future of Food & Nutrition Policy." Topics covered include childhood obesity, nutrition standards, global child nutrition and school food.

"We must focus on keeping this crucial subject at the forefront of our domestic and international policy agenda," said Eileen Kennedy, dean, Tufts University Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. "Working with our colleagues across academia, the food and nutrition industry, government agencies and nonprofit organizations, we will influence and change the nutritional landscape for our children. From mandating healthier school meals, to combating childhood obesity to closing the gap in health disparities, we will be better poised to institute real change in the lives of children here and across the world."

At the June 1st event to be held at the National Press Club, expert panelists (listed below) will present in their respective areas, followed by a Q&A session moderated by Sally Squires of Weber Shandwick, and special remarks by Dean Eileen Kennedy, Linda Jo Doctor, Program Director, W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Julie Paradis, Administrator, Food and Nutrition Service, USDA.
