Network Merchants, Inc (NMI) Founders Donate $50,000 to Schaumburg's Children's Home & Aid

CHICAGO, June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Network Merchants Inc (NMI), a global leader in payment gateway technologies, announced its CEO Jim McKenzie and COO Ted Cucci donated $50,000 to Schaumburg's Children's Home & Aid Family Center.

"We're fortunate such an incredible organization is located in Schaumburg," said NMI's CEO Jim McKenzie. "Children's Home & Aid is the symbol of hope - where everyone who deserves a chance can benefit," McKenzie added.

Located at Plum Grove and Schaumburg Road, the family center will serve children born in high-risk environments defined by low income, young parental age, single parents and low maternal education. "These kids face significant barriers to healthy development and learning. By helping them and their families we create a brighter future for all of us," said Children's Home & Aid VP Karen Selman.

McKenzie first heard of Children's Home & Aid when Selman spoke at the Schaumburg AM Rotary Club where he is a member. McKenzie thought: Here's an opportunity to address poverty and lack of education at an infant level and break the cycle for future generations. He said, "Karen told us she taught a class at a high school where 15 year olds lacked basic reading skills. Those students had a similar outlook as their parents - bleak. She said imagine what we could have accomplished if we reached those kids when they were babies."

In addition to Selman's passion to help educate children, Schaumburg's Mayor Al Larsen was also instrumental in McKenzie and Cucci making their decision to donate. "Mayor Larson has always been concerned with providing services that enhance quality of life in Schaumburg," said Cucci. "Once we heard the Mayor supported the project we knew it had a good chance to succeed," he added.

McKenzie and Cucci hope their contribution will encourage others to follow suit. McKenzie said, "We know the importance of early childhood education and believe it's everyone's responsibility to give these children and their families a chance."
