Travel Advantage Network Employee and Her Dog Hit the Road for Arthritis Foundation

MILLERSVILLE, Md., June 15 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the third year in a row judges at the Arthritis Walk thought Travel Advantage Network's Chantal Boyer looked the most like her dog. She's pretty happy about that. It happens to be the culminating event of a month-long effort to raise $1,770 for the Anne Arundel Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation.

"She had on a shamrock shirt that read, 'One Lucky Pup,'" says Boyer. Both bedecked in everything Irish, Boyer and her pup won first place for Owner-Pet Look-Alike at the 435-person, 55-dog May event in Annapolis. Boyer also tied for third place for total amount raised. She canvassed family, friends and co-workers in support of this month's TAN fund-raiser. She also staged a craft show, held raffles and constructed 100 butterfly magnets to sell. "The butterfly is a symbol of fibromyalgia," says Boyer, who suffers from the disease. "It's an expression of freedom from the disease."

"Such a pervasive disease needs our attention, and arthritis research efforts deserve our support," says TAN president Brad Callahan. Each month, TAN employees rally behind a chosen charity and raise funds to support it. In 2008, TAN employees donated more than $10,000 to charities like the Muscular Dystrophy Association, National Alopecia Areata Foundation and The MISS Foundation.
