Blankenburg Launches New Mobile Computing Startup

Company to provide mobile software and services

REDMOND, Wash., June 22 /PRNewswire/ — Eric Blankenburg today announced the launch of idaptix, LLC. The company will provide mobile software development services to companies that want to create new mobile products or extend their existing products with mobile computing capabilities.

“Increasingly capable mobile devices as well as the anticipated rollout of fourth generation wireless networks is causing a major shift in how we use computers and access information,” said Eric Blankenburg, CEO of idaptix. “The resulting impacts to how organizations conduct their operations will be broad and deep.”

Blankenburg’s mobile experience goes back more than 15 years as Vice President of Engineering and Pervasive Computing Technical Fellow at Avanade and also at Microsoft Consulting Advanced Technologies, where he helped Microsoft customers build products on the Microsoft mobile platform.

One customer who has been satisfied with Blankenburg’s work is Markus Stierli, Program Director of SAP Labs Japan. “Eric managed the team that built a next-generation, robust and innovative mobile platform for SAP R/3,” said Stierli. “It was a pleasure to work with Eric and his team and I strongly recommend them.”

Additional founders of the company are Allen Butler, previously Vice President of Product Development at RFID startup Accelitec and Ping Long, who was the Director of Engineering at enterprise software startup Topaz Bridge before coming to idaptix.

In addition to helping companies build mobile products, idaptix will also focus on helping organizations adopt mobile technologies to transform their processes and optimize their performance by seamlessly integrating computing capabilities at the point of work.

One area where idaptix expects mobility to get a lot of traction is in healthcare. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides $19 billion for healthcare information technology (HIT), including $17 billion in incentives to encourage the adoption of HIT by Medicare and Medicaid providers during the next five years. “One reason that healthcare hasn’t had the same level of IT adoption as many other industries is that desktop PCs are not conducive to the way in which the medical profession works,” Blankenburg said. “Mobile applications fit more naturally with the flow of activity in hospitals and clinics. The potential for cost saving efficiencies in healthcare due to more timely information, less rework in data entry, and fewer transcription errors is staggering.”
