MINNEAPOLIS and COLUMBUS, Ohio, July 21 /PRNewswire/ --
MEDNETWorld.com (MEDNET), a leader in Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN) connectivity and clinical applications, in partnership with The Rubicon Group, eHealth Ohio, Bostech Corporation and TechColumbus Platform Lab have implemented The Ohio Health Point-of-Care (HPOC) Service enabling interoperable electronic exchange of clinical data for healthcare providers. This HIE partnership provides clinicians and physicians with unprecedented electronic access to detailed medical health records for each patient.
Historically clinicians utilized a manual, paper-based process for gathering patient data, resulting in incomplete information and increased the chance for errors. The Ohio HPOC Service offers healthcare providers in the state of Ohio complete access to patient health records, including vision and dental records. Ohio healthcare providers utilizing The Ohio HPOC Service will have the option to participate in revenue enhancing quality monitoring initiatives, gain improved operational performance, and find easier access to participate in clinical trials.
Public Health organizations will also benefit from The Ohio HPOC Service by having more detailed, real time data to combat bioterrorism and natural health threats. Payers will benefit from The Ohio HPOC Service offering through improved economic efficiencies based on fewer errors, improved patient outcomes, increased consumer health self-accountability, and reduction of duplicate claims processing efforts.
"We're looking forward to working with Ohio providers on The HPOC offering, allowing interoperable NHIN based medical data exchange. This offering in Ohio enables the proper sharing of patient medical information and enhancing the quality of care," stated MEDNET CEO John Fraser.
"The Rubicon Group, eHealth Ohio, Bostech Corporation and TechColumbus Platform Lab look forward to working with MEDNETWorld.com to provide this Health Information Exchange solution for Ohio. We believe it represents an important step in establishing meaningful use of health information technology for our healthcare community," stated eHealth Ohio president Richard Moore.
