CDC's guide to health international online

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Yellow Book providing useful tips on healthy international travel is available online, officials say.

The updated 2010 edition of the Yellow Book -- nicknamed for its yellow cover -- includes new or expanded sections on medical tourism, traveling safely with chronic diseases and conditions and expert perspectives on popular travel itineraries worldwide.
Dr. Gary Brunette, managing editor of the 2010 Yellow Book, says the guide is designed to help international travelers prepare for trips and stay healthy while abroad.
The profile of the international traveler is changing. Increasingly, we're seeing older Americans traveling with chronic medical conditions,
Brunette says in a statement.
For the first time, the guide has a section on medical tourism -- traveling abroad for medical procedures.
Other new feature of the new edition include:
-- Information on additional diseases such as anthrax and scabies.
-- A discussion on mental health and travel.
-- A section on drug-vaccine interactions.
-- A section on common respiratory infections in travelers.
-- New sections to give readers a sense of what health risks exist at more exotic locations.
