Online H1N1 Management
NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ — FairChoice Systems has announced an expansion of FairChoice Health, its campus health management service, in response to rising concern about H1N1 (Swine Flu). FairChoice Health empowers campus health officers to alert students about disease prevention, monitor the spread of infection, and track vaccination compliance. FairChoice Health is the first and only end-to-end service for vaccination compliance management specifically designed for colleges and universities.
The enhancement of FairChoice Health adds tracking and notification capabilities that will meet the challenges of H1N1 (Swine Flu). The new features adhere to CDC recommendations issued on May 1, 2009 for colleges and universities “to develop and implement a system to track and report (to the local health department) influenza-like illness … and communicate with students about how to prevent the spread of disease” (http://cdc.gov/h1n1flu/college-alert.htm). FairChoice Health will also allow campus health officers to manage the administration of an H1N1 vaccine to students once it is available.
FairChoice Health is based on technology developed and in use at Columbia University for compliance with New York State Public Law 2167, which requires colleges and universities to distribute information about meningococcal disease and vaccination to students. Since its introduction at Columbia University in 2004, over 60,000 students have certified their receipt of meningococcal disease information online, according to the Columbia University Student Health Service. FairChoice Systems expanded the Columbia University technology to serve the diverse needs of other colleges and universities and a wide range of health management areas, including MMR vaccination and insurance enrollment.
“In an emergency, campus health officers need to know in real-time whether their message is getting out to students. FairChoice Health meets students where they are — online. Our automated notification and tracking service will increase student awareness of the risks of infectious disease and allow school administrators to focus on keeping students healthy,” says Bernie Kluger, FairChoice Systems CEO and founder.
FairChoice Systems provides technologies that web-enable college and university administrative services. The company’s premiere products automate student health management. Unlike other solutions, FairChoice enhances an institution’s existing investments in IT by integrating with — rather than replacing — legacy data systems. The result is a pro-active, low-cost, student-centered approach to college and university administration.
