EASTON, Pa., Aug. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- AnimalScan, LLC, a provider of diagnostic services for veterinarians and pet owners, announced today it has acquired Iams Pet Imaging (IPI), LLC from The Procter & Gamble Company and ProScan Imaging, both headquartered in Cincinnati. Financial terms were undisclosed.
IPI includes interests in locations in Vienna, Va., Raleigh, N.C. and San Francisco and is the leading companion animal imaging company in the United States. These locations will join the AnimalScan headquarters in Easton, Pa. to form the AnimalScan network of diagnostic facilities.
"We are pleased that Procter & Gamble and ProScan Imaging selected AnimalScan to purchase Iams Pet Imaging," said Jim Stuppino, CEO of AnimalScan. "Coupled with our extensive experience in veterinary care and magnetic resonance imaging, this acquisition positions AnimalScan as the front-runner in high field imaging technology for companion animals."
Having completed more than 18,000 scans, IPI personnel have developed state of the art techniques to ensure their scans are of the highest diagnostic quality. AnimalScan expects that all current employees will remain to ensure the same quality.
P&G said that AnimalScan, which specializes in companion animal imaging, was in the best position to move the business forward.
"Veterinarians are so important to us," said Dan Rajczak, general manager, P&G Pet Care North America. "We'll continue to partner with them around our core expertise of dog and cat nutrition. When it comes to imaging, we believe we can help veterinarians even more by enabling AnimalScan to take our pet imaging centers to the next level."
AnimalScan said the acquisition fit well with their long term growth plans. "Diagnostic MRI centers for pets are a recent and growing trend in the U.S.," said Salvatore DeFrancesco, Chairman of the Board for AnimalScan. "Using the same state of the art MRI equipment found in hospitals and healthcare facilities nationwide, we expect to expand into more major markets over the next 18-24 months."
