SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Moszkito(R), the name in "healthy flip-flops," is expanding their collection of sandals with arch support to now include closed footwear for Fall 2009. The 4 new styles, 2 women's, 2 men's, are designed with the famous Moszkito 16 mm arch support. In black and brown Italian Waxed Canvas, they are lightweight, supportive and "Ridiculously Comfortable"!
Based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Moszkito has established a name in the footwear industry with their "healthy flip-flops." Recognizing that the aging Baby Boomer generation was both health conscious and fashion driven, founder Laurin Fox knew there was a void in the marketplace. "As a flip-flop wearer my entire life, it became apparent after years of running, skiing and enormous amounts of fun, having arch support in all my footwear was necessary. So when it came time to develop the Archy(TM) Footwear Collection, fun, fashion and arch support were key components."
Back in 2001, Moszkito was launched, offering an affordable, prefabricated insole to compete in the expensive custom orthotic market. Available in 73 sizes, Moszkito's unique fit system allows approximately 80% of the over-the-counter customers to get a near custom fit. Addressing shoe size, heel width and arch height, the easy-to-fit insoles come in both a flexible and rigid model. At $50.00, they offer a great alternative to expensive custom orthotics.
Expanding into flip-flops was a natural progression for Moszkito. Many of our Moszkito customers recognized the need for a flip-flop with arch support that also offered great designs and fun colors, features that the Baby Boomer generation were demanding. Using the best-selling footshape from the Moszkito insoles, the first Archy(TM) Sandal was designed, in full grain leather, with a 16 mm arch for support and a heel cup and toe bar to limit motion and help prevent heel pain. "Our customers could immediately feel the difference," said Fox.
By marketing the sandals through comfort footwear stores and through key chiropractors and podiatrists, Moszkito quickly caught on as a "healthy" alternative in the flip-flop/sandal market. There are now over 20 women's and men's styles available, all with at least 16 mm of arch support, in fun, colorful leathers and designs.
The new addition of closed-toed shoes will allow die-hard Moszkito lovers to enjoy the famous Moszkito arch support year round. In women's full sizes 5-11, Sydney and Mozzie, and men's 8-14, El Jefe and Simon, these "ridiculously comfortable" shoes are designed with lightweight but durable Italian Waxed Canvas, non-slip rubber outsoles and a removable 16 mm arch footbed. Fully lined with pigskin, they can be worn with or without socks. Available in black and brown.
