BOULDER, Colo., Sept. 21 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Premier Members Federal Credit Union's President and CEO, Rhett B. Rowe has committed to raise $50,000 in new revenue for the event, which is a charitable walk and the largest annual March of Dimes fundraiser.

The Boulder-based credit union has a long-standing commitment to the communities it serves, taking part in March for Babies for several years. Because of Premier Members' history with the event, Rowe felt accepting the chair position was a logical choice.

"Premier Members remains active in the March for Babies, and our employees are dedicated to helping this cause," says Rowe. "As the chair, I am committed to exceeding my $50,000 goal, which will go a long way to helping fund lifesaving March of Dimes programs for healthy moms and babies."

March for Babies will take place locally on Saturday, April 24, 2010, at East Park at Interlocken. Its overall fundraising goal is $205,000. This year, Boulder walkers, teams and sponsors raised $147,500.

Rowe, in his first year with Premier Members, has led the organization to record growth in assets and net income and is on track to have a merger completed with another local credit union by the end of the year. He is a skilled leader with vision that will serve him well in his capacity as chair for March for Babies.

Rowe also supports several other local charities. He currently serves on the board of Attention Homes, a local charity that provides residential treatment, counseling, and safe shelter to at-risk youth. Premier Members supports the Tiny Tim Center, United Way, the Boulder Shelter Toys for Tots and the Safe Shelter of the St. Vrain Valley, among others.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, infant mortality and premature birth, which is the most urgent infant health problem in the United States. It affects more than half a million babies each year, including one in eight in Colorado. Currently, the March of Dimes is funding $2 million in programs of research, services, education and advocacy in the state. To learn more, visit marchofdimes.com/colorado.

Premier Members began in 1966 in Boulder as the credit union supporting the IBM facilities. Through its more than 40-year history, the credit union has steadily grown to eight locations, more than $317 million in assets and 30,000 members.
