AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ — TOPAZ Technologies, a leading provider of medical research management software for the Life Sciences industry, today announced it has 15 customers who have upgraded to the rich Internet application of its Protocols for Animal Studies which is focused on the management and approval process for Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUCs).

Developed to address the research and compliance needs of the IACUC, TOPAZ Technologies’ Protocols for Animal Studies IACUC software manages the protocol review process, centralizes complex research data, maintains a comprehensive protocol history and addresses 21CFR Part 11 compliance requirements, including the audit trailing of protocols.

Leveraging many of the same features as the legacy IACUC software solution, it is enhanced with multiple new features and an updated user interface. TOPAZ Technologies’ Protocols for Animal Studies software enables 24/7 remote online access from across the globe, creating a collaborative work environment for the IACUC protocol process and IACUC compliance management capabilities across multiple locations.

“The ease of use and convenience is impressive,” said David L. Knight, director Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee, Office of Research Administration at Emory University. “Managing our IACUC protocol process in one central location is expected to significantly increase our overall efficiency and simplify IACUC compliance management.”

The software consists of three modules, including Protocols, Reviews, and Meetings, and was created to encompass the lifecycle of the IACUC protocol review process and help protect institutions from IACUC compliance violations. Features include: a customizable protocol form builder and version compare features; automated alerts for protocol management, monitoring and tracking; role-based access control; meeting agenda scheduler and electronic filing of meeting minutes; electronic protocol submission, review, approval and storage; amendment and renewal submission tracking; on-demand reporting capabilities; and comprehensive audit trails.
