The Immune Tolerance Network Implements Tableau to Deliver Collaborative Scientific Analytics and Dashboards

September 28, 2009

SEATTLE, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ – Tableau Software (http://www.tableausoftware.com), the global leader in rapid-fire business intelligence software (http://www.tableausoftware.com/business-intelligence-software), today announced that the Immune Tolerance Network (ITN) has implemented Tableau to provide Web-based reports and analytics to both internal and external audiences. The ITN chose Tableau for its ease of use, ability to publish live, interactive views to a secured Web interface and the simplicity of embedding views into its own Web portal.

“Our researchers and scientists need to share data and collaborate over the Web to advance their research projects. We needed an analytics and reporting solution that was fast to deploy and easy to use, both from the IT and user perspective,” said Dave Parrish, Director Informatics. “Tableau Software was the ideal choice. Not only was it fast and easy to integrate into our existing infrastructure, but the initial reactions have been extremely positive. People are finding the analytic and collaboration capabilities faster and easier to use than our previous solution.”

The ITN is a collaborative research consortium, focused on the design, implementation and evaluation of investigator-initiated human clinical trials of new therapies aimed at producing stable, long-term tolerance in a number of disease settings. Founded in 1999 by a division of the National Institutes of Health, the ITN is led by a consortium of some of the world’s foremost authorities on immune tolerance and regulation of the immune system. The ITN was established with the specific intent to create a means of sharing and distributing knowledge amongst experts of various disciplines in this field.

The ITN selected Tableau’s BI suite, Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server, to deliver scientific data, reports and ad hoc analytics to its network of researchers. Award-winning Tableau Desktop (http://www.tableausoftware.com/products/desktop) connects directly to a wide assortment of data sources and lets people easily create powerful data visualizations. Tableau Server (http://www.tableausoftware.com/server), also an award winner, enables entire organizations to share, discover and interact with their data, business dashboards and reports via a Web browser.

“Tableau is a great fit for scientists and researchers who need cutting edge data visualization capabilities to match their cutting edge research. They don’t have the time for long deployments or the budgets for expensive solutions,” said Tableau’s CEO and co-founder Christian Chabot. “Tableau meets their needs perfectly.”
