PHOENIX, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- SCAN Health Plan Arizona today announced its Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan benefits for Maricopa County in 2010. The benefit plan will continue to include comprehensive medical coverage with no monthly plan premiums and no deductibles.
"At SCAN Health Plan Arizona, we are committed to offering access to affordable, high-quality care to Medicare-eligible residents," said Tom Lescault, president of SCAN Health Plan Arizona. "As a private nonprofit health plan, SCAN is proud to keep costs low and value high for our members."
For members of SCAN's MAPD plan in Maricopa County, primary care physician office visit co-payments are just $10. There is no co-payment for annual routine physical exams or preventive screenings. In addition, SCAN offers a generous prescription drug benefit (Medicare Part D), including a low, $5 co-payment for a 31-day supply of preferred generic drugs as well as unlimited coverage for generic drugs.
Members of SCAN's MAPD plan receive all of the basic benefits traditionally covered under Medicare including doctor visits, hospital care, emergency/urgent care, skilled nursing facility care and more. In addition, members receive routine eye and hearing exams; home-delivered meals as part of an in-home recovery benefit; SCAN On-Call(TM), a 24-hour nurse advice line; and access to emergency care worldwide.
Unlike most Medicare Advantage plans, SCAN has no commercial members, which allows it to dedicate 100 percent of its energy and programs toward serving older adults across the wide spectrum of aging. Its focus is to provide affordable and accessible quality healthcare to seniors and to continue to look for innovative ways to serve Medicare members' healthcare needs. With its 110,000 members, SCAN is the fourth largest not-for-profit MAPD in the nation.
"With no cost of living adjustment in social security this year, many seniors have expressed concerns about the higher healthcare costs, and SCAN has listened to those concerns," said Lescault.
The Medicare open enrollment period begins on November 15. Medicare beneficiaries interested in joining SCAN may call toll-free 866-490-7226 for more information. Benefit and enrollment information is also available at scanhealthplan.com.
