M-TEC Announces ‘New HIPAA Regulations’ Compliance Course for Medical Transcription Industry Professionals
FAIRLAWN, Ohio, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ — The Medical Transcription Education Center (M-TEC), a highly-respected and ACCP-approved medical transcription training program, has introduced a new course of study on the critical aspects of security and privacy of healthcare documentation. The curriculum provides a thorough review of best practices and guidelines for preparing medical documents and protecting health information under ARRA’s HITECH Act. The announcement was made by Jack McCullough, the President of M-TEC.
The first course, pre-approved for six medicolegal continuing education credits by the Association for Healthcare Documentation Integrity (AHDI), will begin January 11, 2010, and last for six weeks. The curriculum, developed by Brenda Hurley, CMT, AHDI-F, 2009 Speaker of the House for the AHDI, is designed for students, medical transcriptionists, documentation editors, supervisors, service owners, and providers. Hurley will moderate the six-week webinar program for M-TEC. She has been a medical transcriptionist, an educator, a compliance officer, and served in a variety of transcription senior management roles for nearly 40 years.
