National Business Group on Health Elects Four New Board Members

WASHINGTON, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Business Group on Health today announced that it has elected four human resources executives from Fortune 200 companies to its board of directors, effective July 13, 2005. The new directors are Diane Duval Avellar, David Ayre, Pamela Hymel, M.D., and Clarion Johnson, M.D.

"We are extremely pleased to have these four global business leaders join our board and work with our employer members in their continuing efforts to address today's complex healthcare benefit issues," said Helen Darling, President of the National Business Group on Health. "Together, they bring a wealth of experience and valuable insights in healthcare and human resources, and we are fortunate to add representation of their caliber to our existing board."

Diane Duval Avellar is vice president of performance development and benefits at Raytheon where she is responsible for the strategic planning, design, implementation and administration of Raytheon's performance development process. This includes the company's compensation and executive compensation programs; health, welfare and retirement plans; and work/life initiatives. She earned an M.S. degree in health service administration from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell and a B.S. degree in medical technology from Merrimack College.

David Ayre is the senior vice president of compensation and benefits at PepsiCo where he has overall responsibility for policy setting, plan design, and administration of the company's compensation and benefits programs for 160,000 employees worldwide. He has been with PepsiCo for 15 years. Ayre earned an M.B.A. in international finance from DeGroote School of Business of McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada.

Dr. Pamela Hymel is the corporate director, health and wellness at Cisco Systems where she has overall responsibility for designing and managing the health and wellness, and occupational health programs for 35,000 employees worldwide. Dr. Hymel is board certified in preventive and internal medicine. She earned a B.S. degree from the University of California at Irvine and an M.D. from Louisiana State University in New Orleans.

Dr. Clarion Johnson is the global medical director for the ExxonMobil's medicine and occupational health department which delivers services to over 110,000 ExxonMobil and affiliate employees worldwide. Dr. Johnson, who is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and occupational medicine, completed his undergraduate work at Sarah Lawrence College and graduated from Yale University's School of Medicine.
