Vietnamese people’s life expectancy increases

HANOI, July 19 (Xinhua) — The Vietnamese people’s life expectancy now stands at 71.3, compared with 68.3 in 2000, according to Vietnam News Agency.

The rise is partly attributed to the country’s improved healthcare system. All communes and wards in the country now have professional healthcare workers.

The decrease in the rate of people affected with dangerous diseases, the full vaccination against common diseases, and the improved prenatal and postnatal healthcare are other contributing factors. Every year, more than 90 percent of Vietnamese children under 1 year old are vaccinated against common diseases free of charge.

Vietnam with a population of over 82 million has been lauded by the international community for its prenatal and postnatal healthcare services, the report said.
