News Advisory:
CHI PRAISES FLORIDA, HHS & MEDICAID OFFICIALS FOR INNOVATIVE HEALTH CARE PROGRAM FOR SICK CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES;
While Congress is looking for ways to improve Medicaid, CHI PACC provides a solution
DETAILS:
Children's Hospice International (CHI) is tentatively planning to host an informal media availability for health care reporters on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Room 2247 of the Rayburn House Office Building on Capitol Hill.
The media availability will highlight a recently announced decision by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the state of Florida to implement a CHI Program for All-Inclusive Care for Children and their Families(r) (CHI PACC(r)) initiative for children with life-threatening conditions.
Florida officials hope to serve approximately 1,000 children initially under this new program, which will run through June 2007 under waiver authority found in Section 1915(b) of the Social Security Act. The waiver is based on the CHI PACC(r) model of care, and will be implemented across seven pilot sites around the state.
Media availability participants will include U.S. Congressman Jim Moran (D-VA) -- a leading proponent of CHI PACC since its inception; Ann Armstrong-Dailey, CHI Founding Director and CEO; Bob Maryanski, former Administrator of Florida Medicaid and Jayne Parker, Director of Florida's CHI PACC -- Partners in Care; as well as Congressional leaders from the CHI PACC states including Florida, Colorado, Utah and Virginia, and others.
