Misys Healthcare Systems Reports Strong Revenue Growth

Posted on: Monday, 25 July 2005, 09:00 CDT

Misys Healthcare Systems - a market leader in healthcare IT - today announced fiscal year 2005 revenues of $540 million. For the 12-month period ending May 31, 2005, Misys Healthcare Systems' revenue grew 6.4 percent, when compared to the previous year. Operating profits* also rose 3.3 percent to $77.4 million.

"Misys Healthcare Systems continues to be one of the most financially stable and reliable companies in a very dynamic market," said Charles Lambert, Chief Financial Officer for Misys Healthcare Systems. "We're very proud of our continued record of revenue and underlying profit growth year-on-year. It's this growth that enables us to re-invest heavily in providing quality products for our clients."

Misys Healthcare Systems is a part of Misys plc, one of the world's largest and longest-established providers of industry-specific software. For its 2005 fiscal year, the UK-headquartered Misys plc generated revenues of about $1.63 billion (879m GBP), a 2 percent increase over the previous year.**

During the fiscal year, Misys Healthcare Systems expanded its Misys Optimum(TM) family of solutions to add new capabilities and products to its robust solutions' suite that promote sharing patient data across all medical care settings. Misys Optimum connects community-based physicians and caregivers to the acute care enterprise, enabling more informed care and clinical decision making, improved patient safety, increased efficiencies and better hospital-physician relations. New during this year include:

-- The introduction of Misys Connect(TM), a Web-based solution that gives physicians a single, secure source where they can view patient data from any care setting or clinical system.

-- A Web browser-based release of Misys CPR(TM), a computer-based patient record system.

-- A new release of Misys EMR(TM) - an electronic medical records solution - that included Preventive Health Maintenance (PHM) capabilities, new specialty-specific templates, and the ability to track risk factors for patients and add diagrams to chart notes, among other features.

-- The addition of ID card scanning, patient insurance eligibility checking, and HIPAA security audit reporting in Misys Tiger(TM), a Windows(R)-based practice management system.

-- A new release of Misys Laboratory(TM) that includes Blood Bank and Microbiology modules to improve lab-testing workflow.

-- The introduction of Misys Laboratory-Disease Reporting Interface(TM), a new connectivity solution designed to transmit infectious disease data to state electronic laboratory reporting databases.

"Our focus with Misys Optimum is to not only connect all venues of care across the community - physicians' offices, hospitals and home care agencies - but to provide information technology solutions that dramatically impact care quality, help prevent errors, reduce costs and improve patient satisfaction," said Misys Healthcare Systems' Chief Executive Officer Tom Skelton. "A key component to Misys Optimum is electronic health records, which got tremendous visibility this year with the government's health information technology initiative."

Misys Healthcare Systems' focus continues to be the U.S. healthcare IT market; however, the company will continue to pursue international opportunities. During this most recent fiscal year, major hospital system projects went live in both the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia and are performing well.
