C.H.E.F.(R) Addresses Heart and Science of Prevention at Tenth Annual National Prevention Symposium(TM)

SEATTLE, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Comprehensive Health Education Foundation (C.H.E.F.(R)), developer of the most widely used prevention curricula in the United States, will host its tenth annual National Prevention Symposium(TM) in Marina del Rey, California this week. From July 25-27, community and school prevention education professionals from around the country will gather at the symposium to address the most critical health risks facing our nation's youth today.
Focused on the Heart and Science of Prevention, the national conference will provide a forum for attendees to address two equally important areas that drive results in the field: the compassionate and human side of prevention which is universally shared by attendees at the National Prevention Symposium, plus the information and knowledge side of prevention, which provides the latest research and strategies focused on unhealthy behaviors such as obesity, stress, HIV / AIDS, smoking, sexual activity, violence, bullying, and alcohol and other forms of substance abuse.
The National Prevention Symposium will be held at the Marriott Marina del Rey Hotel, and will feature a distinguished panel of keynote speakers, including Adam Drewnowski, PhD, Director, Center for Public Health Nutrition, University of Washington; Linda Dusenbury, PhD, Senior Researcher, Tanglewood Research; Mike Lowther, Division Director for the Division of State and Community Assistance at the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP); Howard Spivak, MD, Chief, Division of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine / Vice President, Community Health Programs, New England Medical Center; Sue Thau, Public Policy Consultant, Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA); and Salome Thomas-EL, Principal, John F. Reynolds Elementary School.
