A 12-year-old Omaha boy remained in critical condition Sunday at Creighton University Medical Center after he was hit by a car Saturday evening.
Emanuel L. Furgison was riding a bicycle south on 42nd Street when his bike collided with a 1989 Cadillac that was westbound on Lake Street. Witnesses told police that the boy did not completely stop for a stop sign at the intersection.
The driver, Kevinanita Johnson of Omaha, told police she did not see the boy until his bike hit her car about 8:30 p.m. He was not wearing a helmet and flew over the hood and struck her windshield, police said.
The boy suffered a lacerated liver, a concussion and scrapes to his upper torso. Police said he is expected to make a full recovery.
