A.D.A.M. Announces Expanded Relationship With Baptist Healthcare System
Posted on: Tuesday, 26 July 2005, 09:00 CDT
A.D.A.M., Inc. (Nasdaq: ADAM), today announced that Baptist Healthcare System, a recognized leader in health care delivery and information technology in Kentucky, has expanded its use of A.D.A.M.'s health information solutions to include the company's Oncology Center product. Baptist Healthcare is the first organization to license this product.
In early 2002, Baptist Healthcare began using components of A.D.A.M.'s Health Illustrated Encyclopedia and Pregnancy Health Center products with the goal of improving the health and wellness of the community it serves. Providing access to additional health information content and decision support tools through the Oncology Center product--branded as Baptist Oncology Center--will enable the healthcare system to further achieve this goal.
"A.D.A.M. has an exceptional reputation in the medical community and we have had great experiences with the Health Illustrated Encyclopedia and Pregnancy Health Center products," said Alfred M. Barea, chief information officer at Baptist Healthcare System. "Being able to provide a wealth of up-to-date health information to the members of our community without having to rely on our own clinical staff to research and approve content--a long and difficult process--has been invaluable."
A.D.A.M.'s Health Illustrated Encyclopedia is a comprehensive, continuously updated knowledgebase that uses more than 3,600 articles to describe more than 1,600 diseases and conditions. The knowledgebase was written for the general consumer with an average level of health literacy, and includes medical illustrations, photographs and diagrams that complement the articles.
The Pregnancy Health Center provides parents and children with answers to some of the most commonly asked questions about pregnancy and childbirth. Product modules include activities, movies, tools, images, animations, presentations and newsletters that stimulate interaction and give users a tangible way to chart their progress.
"By leveraging the flexibility of A.D.A.M. technology, our team was able to build the Oncology Center with Baptist's unique business objectives in mind," said Kevin S. Noland, A.D.A.M.'s president and chief operating officer. "As a result, we were able to deliver a truly customized product that adds value to their existing offerings while providing a platform that adapts to meet their changing needs."
