Zynx Health Launches ZynxCare(TM), Providing Clinical Support for Nurses and the Interdisciplinary Care Team

Posted on: Thursday, 28 July 2005, 18:01 CDT

Zynx Health, the world leader in evidence-based healthcare, announces the official launch of ZynxCare(TM), the most advanced evidence-based clinical decision support tool available, designed exclusively for nurses and the interdisciplinary care team.

"A major challenge for nursing today is incorporating the best available evidence into the nurse's workflow and care processes," says Sheila Haas, PhD, RN, FAAN, professor and dean, Loyola University Chicago, Niehoff School of Nursing Member, American Academy of Nursing Expert Panel on Nursing Informatics. "Zynx Health nursing content allows nurses to effectively leverage evidence to improve practice, increase patient safety, and meet regulatory and credentialing standards."

"We are thrilled to bring ZynxCare to the market and continue to advance the field of evidence-based healthcare," says Scott Weingarten, MD MPH, and president of Zynx Health. "By integrating evidence-based plans of care into their nurses' and care team members' workflow, hospitals will now be able to bring the latest in best practices to their clinicians where they need it and when they need it most - at the point of decision making. The result will be more knowledgeable and more satisfied caregivers and measurable improvements in the quality and safety of patient care." ZynxCare provides comprehensive, evidence-based interdisciplinary plans of care and supporting evidence structured for integration into a hospital's care planning and clinical documentation applications.

Pat Button, EdD RN, and director of nursing content at Zynx Health says, "The vision of ZynxCare is an interdisciplinary team providing care based on the right information, at the right time, in the right form." Through ZynxCare, Chief Nursing Officers, Chief Quality Officers, clinical nurse specialists, informatics nurses, nurse educators, bedside nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nutrition services and other care team members can use the evidence-based content and care plans they need to assure that patient care reflects the best, most current practice.

"The information in ZynxCare is very complete and has been an instrumental tool in the development of interdisciplinary plans of care for many nurses using the solution," says Lori Rutledge, MSN, RN, and nurse executive at Zynx Health.

ZynxCare addresses key performance measures, regulatory initiatives, accreditation requirements, and patient problems that nurses and interdisciplinary teams encounter most frequently. The plans of care are based on evidence-based knowledge compiled through the industry's most rigorous analysis of the literature. ZynxCare content and supporting evidence is fully referenced and classified based on a clearly defined research methodology and updated regularly to reflect the best evidence and practice available.

Structured for integration into the clinical information system, ZynxCare is a continuously updated repository of evidence-based, standardized plans of care, reminders, and alerts. All plans of care can be easily customized to meet local guidelines and ensure that the clinical recommendations are relevant to nurses and other members of the interdisciplinary care team. These customized plans are used either in paper form or exported into care planning and documentation clinical applications.

To help demonstrate compliance with regulatory initiatives and accrediting bodies - including the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program(R) - ZynxCare knowledge is mapped to SNOMED CT.
