Remuda Ranch Offers its Support of Eating Disorders Coalition Lobby Day on Capitol Hill
PHOENIX, Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ — Since 1990, Remuda Ranch Programs for Eating and Anxiety Disorders has treated more than 10,000 patients suffering from anorexia, bulimia, anxiety and related issues. On Saturday, September 30, Remuda Ranch will support the Eating Disorders Coalition’s (EDC) efforts on Capitol Hill. The goal of lobby day is to influence policy makers and meet directly with elected officials and their staff about legislation that will impact all those affected by eating disorders.
“We see firsthand the devastation of eating disorders on patients and their families,” said Mark Bower, executive administrator of Remuda Ranch in Milford, Va. “We support the efforts of the EDC to help bring more research funding, prevention grants and treatment options to individuals.”
This is one of the most important days of the year for the EDC and its supporters. Participants attending lobby day will advocate the first ever comprehensive eating disorders bill in Congress – the Federal Response to Eliminate Eating Disorders Act (the FREED Act).
“All of us at Remuda Ranch would like to see this legislation passed in Congress,” adds Bower. “Eating disorders have the highest mortality rate of all mental illnesses. The FREED Act would help promote much needed research, treatment, education and prevention programs.”
