Industry leaders to share inside scoop on the evolving marketplace
WASHINGTON, Oct. 27 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The United Soybean Board and the Soyfoods Association of North America invite you to join representatives from the food industry, farmers, processors, health professionals, and policy makers at the 2010 Soy Symposium: Adapting to New Market Forces on November 11 in Washington, DC.
Registration to the symposium is complementary for U.S. Government employees, Capitol Hill staff and members of the press; there is a discounted registration rate for current SANA members.
Panelists and keynote speakers will provide insight on how consumers, government and food industry stakeholders will all have to adapt practices to address emerging market pressures. Additional areas of discussion will include the 2010 Dietary Guidelines, federal nutrition programs, food labeling, food safety and innovations in the soyfood industry.
The impact of the Dietary Guidelines on industry stakeholders and how to position healthy products will be the focus of the morning panel with keynote from moderator, Brian Wansink, Ph.D., Professor of Applied Economics & Management with Cornell University and author of Mindless Eating. Dominique Dawes, Co-chair of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Olympic Gold Medalist, will share her insight on reaching families and children with messaging around healthy products. The afternoon panel will include a group of experienced industry leaders including Phillip Bradshaw, Chair of the United Soybean Board and Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board; Ellen Deutsch, Senior Vice President/CGO, The Hain Celestial Group; Allan Routh, President, SunOpta Grains and Foods Group; and Torkel Rhenman, CEO, Solae who will discuss strategies to meet consumer interest in health, economic value, and sustainability.
The symposium will be held at L’Enfant Plaza Hotel in Washington, DC. In addition to the Symposium on November 11th, registration includes admission to the 2010 Capitol Hill Reception. The reception will take place the evening of November 10th, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm at the Cannon House Building. Attendees will spend the evening mingling with government officials, Capitol Hill staff, industry representatives, and other friends of soy. Registration to the Capitol Hill Reception only is an available option.
