Davis Vision introduces the Eye Health Connection(SM) Program
PLAINVIEW, N.Y., Jan. 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Just in time for the new year, Davis Vision announces the launch of its new health and wellness program, the Eye Health Connection Program. With expanded coverage for eye exams and eyewear, it will offer cost savings, greater flexibility and enhanced benefits to members.
Focusing on the four leading eye conditions – age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts and diabetic retinopathy, Davis Vision’s new program elevates benefits and reduces costs. The expanded benefits include greater frequency of dilated eye exams, free online resources and personalized, disease-specific communications for each member.
“Our disease management program stands out from others since it has an expanded eyewear coverage offering and two dilated eye exams per benefit cycle,” said Tom Davis, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Davis Vision. “Early detection of eye disease and communication with the eye care provider are connected to health, wellness and disease management.”
The Eye Health Connection Program features flexibility to offer expanded eyewear coverage. Members will also be prompted to receive two regular eye exams per benefit cycle for early diagnosis of sight-threatening eye diseases.
Vision problems are the second most prevalent health issue in the country, and spending on chronic diseases currently accounts for 85 percent of all health care spending. Many conditions that threaten sight have no symptoms, and costs can go up as a disease is left untreated. The cost-saving impact of a disease management program is multifaceted. There is a vital link between healthy eyesight and a healthy life and early detection, treatment and prevention means better health and lower health care costs overall for employers.
