Millions Suffer Due to Scientific Egoism, According to Dr. Harold Levinson & Others

The fallacious decade-old “vaccine-cause-autism” link was recently but belatedly exposed as a “fraud” and “hoax” by the British Medical Journal. Great Neck, NY (PRWEB) January 11, 2011

The fallacious decade-old “vaccine-cause-autism” link was finally exposed as an “elaborate fraud” and “hoax” by a very recent British Medical Journal article (1/2011) and a follow-up summary in a Wall Street Journal editorial this weekend (1/9-10/2011). According to Dr. Harold Levinson’s analysis within “A Scientific Watergate – Dyslexia,” pathological narcissism or egotism is responsible for fraudulent scientific publications and their cover-ups as well as the unfounded attacks on new and challenging breakthroughs – and thus tragic for countless suffering millions.

Based on the Wall Street Journal, although British doctor Andrew Wakefield initially published his dubious study in “the (once) respected medical journal The Lancet in 1998,” its scientific editors refused a retraction until forced to last year when Britain’s medical regulator ruled that Wakefield had acted “dishonestly and irresponsibly.” The Lancet had previously ignored significant and mounting refuting evidence dating back to the 1990′s as well as the ensuing vaccine/immunization panic and consequent re-emergence of previously eradicated diseases, epidemics and deaths.

Why, one must ask, did it take 12 years for responsible medical/scientific, media, government”¦leaders to force a correction? How and why did this erroneous study and publication occur to begin with? And just how frequently do these fallacious publications occur ““ even in prestigious scientific journals?

According to famed psychiatrist, neurologist and dyslexia researcher Dr. Harold Levinson, pathological narcissism or an exaggerated egotistical need for self-esteem, advancement, fame and/or fortune motivate otherwise gifted individuals and even altruistic institutions to consciously and/or subconsciously falsify and misrepresent their own data for publication and/or defensively negate or defame the beneficial and objective work of others ““ for self gain. And no doubt, egoism also significantly contributes to difficulty recognizing and correcting one’s own errors and those of respected colleagues.

After refuting the century-old erroneous but traditionally maintained thinking-brain theories of dyslexia and eventually solving its many riddles ““ thus providing new hope and rapid and dramatic medical help for countless millions, Dr. Levinson and his research were bombarded with unexpected defensive and severely biased and distorted criticism. The critics and criticism as well as the motivating narcissism were documented and analyzed in one of Dr. Levinson’s many books, “A Scientific Watergate ““ Dyslexia,” (Stonebridge Publishing, Ltd., 1994).

And as predicted within this work, with increased validation and scientific acceptance of Dr. Levinson’s highly original cerebellar-vestibular (inner-ear) theory and concepts of dyslexia by independent researchers there came decreased and even absent proper referencing. Instead, prior critics began referencing each other ““ “buddy-buddy” ““ in their publications of the cerebellum and dyslexia ““ a phenomena Dr. Levinson called “scientific kleptomania.”

To top it all, The Lancet published a cerebellar-dyslexia paper by Rae et al in 1998 ““ the very same year they published Wakefield’s “vaccine-cause-autism” fiction. Although Rae quoted exactly and extensively from one of Dr. Levinson’s scientific dyslexia papers, she referenced only her colleagues. Despite numerous documented communications with The Lancet and even Rae, neither would provide a correction to date. Is not this chutzpa narcissism? (Refer to Smart But Feeling Dumb, Appendix F ““ Lancetgate, Stonebridge Publishing, Ltd, 2008).

Could the “buddy-buddy” system facilitate who and what gets published and thus “accepted” ““ just as it appears to determine a failure to evaluate and correct improper data and referencing?

Summary: In Dr. Levinson’s clinically-based and documented experience with the distortions characterizing dyslexia research as well as the unwillingness of The Lancet and gifted others to admit and correct major scientific distortions, “The Autism Vaccine Hoax” represents merely the tip of the improper “scientific iceberg”. Sadly, this frequency is supported by two outstanding objective sources on the topic: “Wrong” by David Freidman, and “Betrayers of the Truth,” by William Broad and Nicholas Wade. And upon analysis, Dr. Levinson recognized a common underlying and causative psychological mechanism ““ pathological narcissism. As a result, only a clear understanding of the subconscious role of narcissism within the scientific process and the threat of constant scrutiny and humiliating public exposure can possibly tame the otherwise devastating ramifications of run-away pathological scientific egoism.
