Clearant Announces Fourth Tissue Bank Launch of Orthopedic Tissue Implants Treated With the CLEARANT PROCESS(R)

Posted on: Monday, 8 August 2005, 09:01 CDT

Clearant, Inc (OTCBB: CLRI) and DCI Donor Services (DCI), an affiliation of organ and tissue recovery organizations across the U.S., announced today the complete conversion of the DCI soft tissue allograft product line to the CLEARANT PROCESS(R) sterilization method. DCI is the fourth tissue bank to launch commercially available soft tissue allografts treated with the CLEARANT PROCESS(R) for orthopedic implants. DCI is also the second tissue bank to have completely deployed the CLEARANT PROCESS(R) for all its soft tissue allografts.

"Due to the increase in surgeon demand for sterile - safer - allografts, we are very excited to have implants treated with the CLEARANT PROCESS(R) available to meet this need," said Kelli Orr, Executive Director, DCI Donor Services.

Dr. Ty Endean (orthopedic surgeon for the US Rugby team) implanted the first allograft from DCI treated with the CLEARANT PROCESS(R). Both Dr. Endean and Dr. Derek Jones (team orthopedic surgeon for the New Orleans Saints and New Orleans Hornets) have been involved in a Clearant clinical outcome data collection over the last year and have had zero allograft implant failures.

"We've had successful outcomes with all the allografts treated with the CLEARANT PROCESS(R) - no infections or allograft failures," reported Dr. Jones. "I am excited about DCI offering tissue treated with the CLEARANT PROCESS(R). Recent studies demonstrate the need to eliminate the potential for infections from allografts that are not sterilized, and we believe these DCI allografts treated with the CLREARANT PROCESS(R) resolve this issue."

About DCI Donor Services

The mission of DCI Donor Services is to support families in member communities who have sustained the loss of a loved one by providing an opportunity for the donation of anatomical gifts and by facilitating the recovery and transplantation of these gifts to individuals in need. DCI currently recovers and processes tissue from approximately 1,000 donors annually, resulting in the processing of approximately 25,000 transplant allografts. Additionally, they provide tissue to researchers within their recovery service area to promote the advancement of scientific investigation and medical therapy.
