Tennessee Healthcare Provider to Use CareScience Products and Service Solutions to Support Its Focus on Quality of Care Improvement
CareScience, a division of Quovadx, Inc. (Nasdaq:QVDX) providing care management, clinical analysis and clinical quality improvement solutions, today announced a multi-year agreement to provide Maury Regional Healthcare System with its industry-leading quality improvement, reporting and analysis software, CareScience Quality Manager, along with consulting and education solutions. Eight counties and over a quarter-million residents in South Central Tennessee rely on Maury Regional Healthcare System for their comprehensive healthcare services.
Maury Regional Hospital, the flagship facility of the Maury Regional Healthcare System, is a 275-bed facility with more than 2,000 employees. Maury will use CareScience Quality Manager and supporting services to assist in the identification of patient outcomes improvements and address the related care process issues that can affect patient outcomes and compromise patient safety. In addition, CareScience Quality Manager will enable Maury Regional Hospital to collect, aggregate and analyze patient outcome and clinical results data to measure process performance, enable physician profiling and provide disease population outcome and medical practice reporting for benchmarking.
"After using the CareScience solutions at a previous organization to deliver clinical performance improvement and drive patient safety goals, I was able to see first hand the positive impact that CareScience solutions can have by delivering the ability to pin-point care process opportunities within a specific practice area and establish an actionable, executable plan for designing processes and procedures to address these issues," said Robert Otwell, Chief Executive Officer. "Our use of the CareScience Quality Manager underscores our focus of improving the quality of care we deliver to our patients -- enabling us to measure, manage and impact care processes and, ultimately, the patient experience at our facility."
CareScience Quality Manager, a key component of the CareScience Care Management Suite, and its customized support and facilitation services are used by leading hospitals and health systems across the country to isolate, prioritize and quantify clinical process improvement opportunities, and to implement strategies for adopting best practices that have a real-world impact on patient care.
"Our focus for the last decade has been to provide our customers with in-depth analytics and outcomes improvement tools, as well as proven, industry-leading methodologies and comprehensive facilitation and mentorship services," said Thomas H. Zajac, president, CareScience. "As a long-time customer at North Mississippi Health System, Robert experienced the value realized by application of CareScience solutions, and it is gratifying to have the opportunity to work with him again in his new organization. We are proud of the role we play in enabling organizations like Maury Regional Healthcare System to meet their quality improvement and business goals."
The CareScience Care Management Suite is an ASP-based software and services solution for hospitals and healthcare organizations helping clinicians and managers identify optimum treatment protocols, improve clinical quality and efficiency, streamline clinical reporting and data aggregation, and reduce complications and process errors that drive adverse patient outcomes. By enabling improved clinical outcomes performance and uncovering care process efficiencies, CareScience solutions support its clients' efforts to deliver the "business case for quality," a model that asserts that healthcare providers, payers, as well as healthcare consumers, prefer to deliver and receive quality care and that health systems delivering quality care will benefit from both higher revenue and lower costs.
The CareScience Quality Manager solution leverages CareScience copy-righted, clinically oriented risk assessment statistical methodologies developed at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Medicine and Wharton School of Business. Coupled with CareScience expert consulting and mentoring services, the solution allows for significant financial, operational, and clinical improvements through care management and care process improvement.
