Squirt, Squirt, Sniff, Sniff … Oh What a Relief It Is!

March 17, 2011

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately six million American adults suffer from a diagnosable level of anxiety. “All of us worry about things like health, money, or family problems at one time or another. But people with generalized anxiety disorder are extremely worried about these and many other things, even when there is little or no reason to worry about them. They may be very anxious about just getting through the day. They think things will always go badly. At times, worrying keeps people with generalized anxiety disorder from doing everyday tasks,” states the government-sponsored site.

Mother of three Kimberly Jones agrees, “I’ve had treatment-resistant anxiety my entire life. It takes the joy out of everyday activities that should be enriching my life. Medication has never helped even though I have tried numerous.”

A new hormone discovery may offer hope where little has been found. Oxytocin, commonly referred to as the “Love Hormone,” has captured the attention of the neuroscientific community due in part to the potential it holds for alleviating many stress-related symptoms commonly found in individuals suffering from anxiety and depression.

“They had no clue that it also affects our emotions,” says Chemistry of Connection author Susan Kuchinskas.

Managing Editor of http://www.OxytocinCentral.com Bryan Post states, “Oxytocin has a dampening effect on our brain’s fear/stress receptor, the amygdala. When an individual has a healthy oxytocin response they are able to calm down more readily, worry less. But if their oxytocin response is diminished for whatever reason then they experience persistent, sometimes chronic stress which eventually leads to prolonged anxiety.”

ABC Nutriceuticals has introduced an oxytocin nasal spray called Oxytocin Factor. CEO Gordon Parks states, “It is formulated for individuals needing support during stressful and overwhelming times; to calm and refresh the mind and body both physically and mentally.” Parks does emphasize, “Oxytocin supplementation is for support. It is not a miracle cure or quick fix as many may hope.”

“I got the oxytocin factor supplement and had some immediate benefit. It decreased my anxiety, which as I said is amazing in itself since I’ve had treatment-resistant anxiety all my life. I also used it before both my counseling session and my massage appointment. I made a major breakthrough. I have worked so hard to try to do this on my own, but I have come away from one session helped by oxytocin factor in a much different place than I went in. Afterwards, my boys and I danced together and then I actually had fun playing basketball with them! I could go on and on. I’m sold on oxytocin factor and will be spreading the word,” states Kimberly.
