Biker Suffers Head Injuries
A motorcyclist suffered head injuries in a crash with a car.
The man in his 40s, who was driving a Yamaha bike, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead after he was hit by a Peugeot at the junction of Lobley Hill Road and Beechwood Gardens, Gateshead at 11pm on Sunday.
Dog killed
A DOG was killed when it was hit by a motorcycle believed to be stolen.
The dog was being walked in Rothsmere Park in Hartlepool when the motorbike hit it at 2.15pm on Sunday.
The driver, a man of about 18 wearing a blue top and dark tracksuit bottoms, picked up the black Suzuki 250, registration K156 PTN, and sped off. The dog died 20 minutes later. Call (01642) 302123.
Attack on boy
A TEENAGE boy has been assaulted while skateboarding.
The 14-year-old was at the skatepark in Devonshire Walk car park, Carlisle, when two youths aged 15 or 16 approached him. He was hit across the face with a skateboard and punched.
Four injured
FOUR people were slightly hurt in a two-car crash in the Scottish borders.
It happened on the A698 near Kelso at 7.30am yesterday. All were taken to Borders General Hospital at Melrose.
Man hurt in fire
A MAN, 24, was taken to hospital suffering from burns and smoke inhalation after a fire in his block of flats.
He was taken to South Tyneside General Hospital after the fire in Albert Road, Jarrow, just before 5am yesterday. His bedsit was severely damaged.
Two slashed
TWO men were hurt in an unprovoked attack in Newcastle city centre.
A 20-year-old Newcastle man suffered slash wounds to the face and a broken jaw and his 22-year-old friend slash injuries to his nose in the attack at a foot bridge in New Bridge Street, near Manors Metro station.
Both were taken to Newcastle General Hospital at about 2.25am on Sunday and were yesterday awaiting surgery.
Two men were arrested and released pending police inquiries.
Rape appeal
POLICE have made fresh appeals for witnesses after a rape in County Durham.
A woman, in her 20s, was walking home from a friend’s house in Wheatley Hill, Peterlee, when she was attacked by two men between 10pm and 10.30pm on August 1. Call 0845 606-0365.
