New Product for Sizing Up Health Insurance Business: Health Plans USA From Mark Farrah Associates (MFA)

Mark Farrah Associates (MFA), the leading provider of market intelligence solutions for the healthcare industry, is pleased to announce MFA has signed a contract with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) to license and distribute health insurance enrollment and market share data. The agreement was finalized in March 2005 and MFA officially launched Health Plans USA in July 2005.
Health Plans USA is a web database and virtual directory of health plans. The online product presents information for more than 900 carriers and 154 million PPO, HMO and Indemnity covered lives. The data will be updated every three months as new data is filed with the NAIC. Many companies have found the NAIC to be the best yardstick for evaluating market composition and competition.
Now, due to recent NAIC initiatives, the breadth of enrollment data for the insured market is expanding. With increased availability of non-HMO enrollment data, the potential for analyzing and understanding health insurance business has improved considerably. Rich product and market mix data is now available at the click of a mouse for Health Plans USA subscribers.
The product's user interface was designed for quick searches based on important market factors such as carrier, state, product type and segment. Segment breakdowns include group, individual, dental, vision, Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan (FEHBP), Medigap, Medicare and Medicaid insurance. A download feature converts tables to customizable Excel spreadsheets.
The virtual directory of health plans features company profiles with key contacts, enrollment summaries and web site links. Subscribers can easily create, customize and update their own reference directories with the most current information.
