Children’s National Names Gary Rogers as Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
Renowned surgeon leads team specializing in plastic surgery for children

Children’s National Medical Center is pleased to announce that Gary F. Rogers, MD, JD, MBA, MPH, is Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Rogers joins Children’s National from Children’s Hospital Boston and leads a team of fellowship-trained pediatric plastic surgeons, the largest of any medical center in the mid-Atlantic region.
“We are pleased to add Dr. Rogers to our rapidly expanding team,” said Kurt Newman, MD, Senior Vice President of the Joseph E. Robert, Jr., Center for Surgical Care. “His experience and innovative approach will complement our surgical team at Children’s National and benefit patients and families.”
Dr. Rogers has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed articles, has lectured internationally, and has contributed to the invention of two patented devices to treat deformational plagiocephaly. His clinical interests include craniofacial surgery (including facial trauma and reconstruction), congenital and acquired hand conditions, and plagiocephaly.
Dr. Rogers is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, and he holds a subspecialty board in hand surgery (CAQHS). He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.
Each year Children’s National surgeons perform more than 15,000 surgical cases, including many on patients needing plastic and reconstructive surgery. The Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Children’s National offers elite pediatric surgical services to children regionally and nationally. The team includes three pediatric plastic surgeons, specially trained to treat infants, children, and teens.
