Protica President Places Winning Bid for Patton Oswalt’s Celebrity Carvel® Black Card
Patton Oswalt’s Carvel Cakes to Be Given to Children Across the U.S. to Promote Healthy Eating
Whitehall, PA (PRWEB) April 07, 2011
Patton Oswalt may not want free Carvel® ice cream cakes every week for the next 75 years, but Jim Duffy, President of Protica Inc., is betting that thousands of children across the country do. Duffy entered the winning bid for the “cursed” Carvel Black Card at The Comedy Death Ray 9th Annual Xmas Nativity Pageant Charity Auction last December in Los Angeles and has used the gift card as the centerpiece of his company’s new charity campaign, the ProticaCares Sweet Treats Giveaway. The card will be placed in the name of Duffy’s two-year-old daughter, Paige.
As part of the program, Duffy’s company, Protica, Inc., will deliver an all-expenses-paid “Sweet Treats” gift package, complete with a Carvel ice cream cake and a variety of healthy Protica treats, to a different school or children’s hospital every week from now through 2086. The package will also include treats and surprises from Sunkist®, three-time World’s Strongest Man Bill Kazmaier, and others. The first package will be delivered to a group of K-2 students at the Brookside School in Baldwin, NY, on April 12, 2011, as part of the program’s kickoff event.
As you may recall from Oswalt’s now infamous video, Carvel Ice Cream issued “Black Cards” to 75 celebrities to commemorate its 75th anniversary. The card entitles each celebrity to free Carvel Ice Cream products every week for the next 75 years. Actor and comedian Patton Oswalt (“ËœKing of Queens’, “ËœRatatouille’) received permission from Carvel to donate his card to the LA Regional Foodbank’s charity auction and after a rigorous bidding war, Duffy triumphed with the winning bid.
“I’ll admit, Patton looked none-too-healthy in his “ËœCursed Carvel Card’ video, but I guess my lust for ice cream trumps my fear of curses,” says Protica President Jim Duffy.
As a thank you to Patton Oswalt, Duffy has produced a Carvel Black Card video of his own. To see a “trailer” for the video before its release ““ with cameo performances by Dina Lohan and Bill Kazmaier ““ visit http://www.ProticaCares.com
