Breakthrough Cholesterol-Lowering Treatment Detailed in Study Published in Neuroendocrinology Letters

April 12, 2011

CLEVELAND, April 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Neuroendocrinology Letters has just published a paper by the Dzugan Institute of Restorative Medicine entitled “Correction of steroidopenia as a new method of hypercholesterolemia treatment.” In this study, Principle Investigator Sergey Dzugan, M.D., Ph.D., demonstrates that “correction of steroidopenia with anthropo-identical hormones” (bio-identical hormone restorative therapy or HT) can be an inexpensive and effective method of treatment for high cholesterol.

The study is a retrospective chart review of 43 patients with a mean age of 58.4 years who had previously failed the conventional treatment of high cholesterol or had significant negative side effects from cholesterol-lowering drugs. HT is defined in this study as multi-hormonal therapy (a combination of agents such as pregnenolone, DHEA, triestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, hydrocortisone and vitamin D3) administered at dosages selected to produce physiologic serum levels typical for healthy individuals between the age of 20 and 30 years old.

The results of the study were impressive. Total cholesterol dropped a mean of 45.1 points in all patients. Mean triglycerides across all patients dropped 24%. All of the patients responded positively to the treatment with no negative side effects. These results imply that low hormone levels may be the root cause of high cholesterol.

Cholesterol-lowering drugs known as statins have a myriad of documented negative side effects, including muscle pain and weakness, rhabdomyolysis (muscle breakdown), neuropathy, memory loss, impotence and even death. This study is a breakthrough for physicians who wish to follow one of the principle precepts of medical ethics and “First, do no harm.”

About the study authors: Drs. Dzugan and Rozakis are founders of Dzugan Method Restorative Medicine – an international team of anti-aging & regenerative medicine physicians bringing the world a new paradigm in health care based on the idea that many of the degenerative ailments associated with aging – formerly treated as separate diseases – are all the result of acquired imbalances in body chemistry. The concept “One Cause and One Solution” is detailed in the book “Your Blood Doesn’t Lie!” by Drs. Dzugan and Rozakis. This paradigm has allowed Dzugan Method physicians to effectively treat such wide-ranging conditions as high cholesterol / heart disease, menopause, ED, depression, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, mental decline and macular degeneration.
