Pfizer to Label Celebrex Packaging With Warnings Against Risks of Cardiovascular Problems

Pfizer (USA), pharmaceutical concern, will label Celebrex packaging with warnings against risks of cardiovascular problems. The stricter warning was ordered by the FDA in mid 2005

. Pfizer has informed that the FDA introduced stricter warnings also for other drugs used in the treatment of joint inflammation. They include for example ibuprofen or naprosen. The whole case was inspired by the withdrawal of Vioxx by Merck & Co (USA) from the market in Sep 2004. Merck is now facing numerous lawsuits. According to analysts, the indemnification for patients could climb to as much as USD 20 bil.
