ParadigmHealth today announced a new 3-year agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana (BCBSMT) to offer its Neonatal Intensive Care Management Services to the plan's commercial members. A leading disease management company focused on improving the lives of intensive and clinically complex patients and their families, ParadigmHealth began providing neonatal intensive care management services to BCBSMT members in March.
"We are pleased about our partnership with ParadigmHealth because it allows us to bring a valuable case management service to our members with premature or critical newborns. Our Montana hospitals with Neonatal Intensive Care units take great care of these babies, and this partnership with ParadigmHealth will compliment the health care provided to our members in Montana," said Dr. Fred Olsen, BCBSMT's Chief Medical Officer.
"More importantly, ParadigmHealth has registered nurses across the United States, so BCBSMT can offer on-site case management in any of the larger cities, such as Seattle, Denver, or Salt Lake City, where our member's premature or critical babies might be transferred for neonatal intensive care. This on-site service will be a valuable resource for the baby's family," he said.
Under the agreement, ParadigmHealth works closely with BCBSMT members, their nurses, and attending physicians to promote superior medical outcomes for premature and medically complex newborns in Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) and special care nurseries. The leading provider of care management services for premature and medically complex infants, ParadigmHealth has managed over 50,000 infants since 1991.
"We are pleased that BCBSMT has recognized the value proposition that our patient-centered care management and experienced NICU registered nurses brings to their members and providers," says John Penrose, CEO of ParadigmHealth. "We look forward to supporting their neonatal population to achieve superior medical outcomes and ensure strong parental education and support."
ParadigmHealth's programs focus on the management of the most clinically complex, highest cost medical events, including individuals with end stage illnesses, severe burns, multiple trauma, brain and spinal cord injuries, and infants in neonatal intensive care units. The company is also committed to utilizing its web-based technology to assist its clients with the identification, risk stratification, triage and management of their members involved in internal and outsourced disease management programs.
