thinkThin® and Laila Ali Join Whole Foods Market® for Wellness Day, Supporting Michelle Obama’s ‘Let’s Move’ Campaign

June 9, 2011

LOS ANGELES, June 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — “In a time when childhood obesity and childhood diseases are at an all time high, we did something positive for our community by launching our thinkThin® Wellness Day and we supported First Lady Michelle Obama by incorporating her ‘Let’s Move’ campaign in the event,” says Lizanne Falsetto, CEO of thinkThin®, the No. 1 ranked sugar free and high protein nutrition bar (SPINSscan, February). The company spearheaded the recent thinkThin® Wellness Day in Los Angeles and announced Thursday it is launching the event nationally. See the video here.

“We are an example of a company doing our part in educating people about weight wellness. Raising awareness on obesity, childhood diseases, and gluten sensitivity has been an important goal at thinkThin®,” says Falsetto, whose daughter was ironically diagnosed with gluten sensitivity two years ago.

thinkThin® Wellness Day included a free lesson of First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” dance, a free healthy tasting trail and lunch, a free RealD 3D movie, and a march to Whole Foods Market®.

Falsetto, mother of two, announced thinkThin® will be bringing the event to at least five cities, uniting families from all cultural backgrounds to celebrate a new healthier direction.

According to the latest report from the White House Task Force on Child Obesity, childhood obesity rates in America have tripled, and today, nearly one in three children in America are overweight. The numbers are even higher in African American and Hispanic communities, where nearly 40% are overweight.

Laila Ali, youngest daughter of the legendary Muhammad Ali and Veronica Porsche Anderson, spoke at the first thinkThin® Wellness Day and is excited to see it go national. Ali is a mother, athlete, and champion of health and fitness.

“Sadly, my kids’ generation is the first to have a shorter life expectancy than their parents,” said Ali. “I want my kids to live long, healthy lives. That’s why I support thinkThin®.”

In addition to organizing the event across the country, the company is also launching a highly produced online cooking series called Lizanne Naturally. Falsetto, show host, will be highlighting the importance of protein in her first episode and sharing some of her delicious, healthy recipes. See a sneak peek here.
