Recent Cyber Attacks Against Federal IT Prompts Lumension and Security Expert Discussion

August 9, 2011

Webcast will discuss today’s threats against federal IT and the essential infrastructure needed to improve operations

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) August 08, 2011

Recent reports have revealed that U.S. government servers are faced with 1.8 billion cyber attacks every month. With such an alarming number, it is painfully obvious that status quo security measures are not keeping pace with today’s threats. In response to today’s seemingly endless attacks, Congress has introduced the Cyber Security Public Awareness Act of 2011, but more evolution of government agency cyber defenses needs to occur.

In an effort to offset the growing numbers of attacks, and regain control of our cyber defenses, Lumension will be presenting a webcast titled “Reorganizing Federal IT to Address Today’s Threats.”

Government agency IT staff will learn from hosts Richard Stiennon of IT Harvest and author of Surviving Cyber War, and Lumension vice president of solution strategy, Paul Zimski as they examine:

  •     Today’s threats and attacks currently targeting government IT systems;
  •     How federal IT departments can reorganize to improve security and operations;
  •     What key endpoint security capabilities should be implemented

“The overwhelming amount of cyber attacks in recent months further proves the critical importance of having a well-thought, structured defense plan in place,” says Zimski. “Our government IT is perhaps single handedly one of the most important aspects to homeland security and is no exception when it comes to cyber attacks. We need to reorganize, refresh and restructure to ensure that our governmental departments are just as safe as any other organization.”

The webcast will take place Thursday, Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. EST. For more information or to register for free, please visit “Reorganizing Federal IT to Address Today’s Threats.”
