Asante Health System Selects Park City Solutions Provider Portal

Park City Solutions (PCS), the leading physician access provider, and Asante Health System, a healthcare system serving over 530,000 residents in nine rural southern Oregon and northern California counties, announced the decision to upgrade Asante's current physician portal (privately labeled by Asante as "Asante md") and fully implement PCS' emPOWERnet(TM) Provider Portal throughout Asante's health care network.
Asante will use Park City's Provider Portal to integrate its disparate systems and to provide a single view into all relevant patient demographic and clinical data for 400 physicians and 1,500 office staff. Mark J. Hetz, Vice President of Information and Guest Services for Asante Health System, said, "To accomplish our strategic goals, Asante needed to find a vendor that could produce a quality product, within our time frame, at a reasonable cost. Expertise in integration to our current systems was a key factor, and flexibility is essential - as the needs of physicians and staff tend to change over time. Product features had to include a very intuitive user interface, electronic signature, a single sign-on to all key physician functions, and robust security. Our new physician access application has to exceed the standards already set by our existing physician portal. After our successful experience implementing Park City Solutions' Electronic Greaseboard for our Emergency Department, we have concluded that Park City Solutions fulfills our requirements."
Park City's emPOWERnet(TM) Provider Portal provides a comprehensive solution that enables physicians and other care givers to access complete longitudinal patient information from the hospital, the office, home, or virtually anywhere via a secure Internet connection using a desktop computer, a laptop, or a wireless hand-held PDA device. With a multitude of proven interfaces to legacy applications, emPOWERnet(TM) can link all existing pertinent information currently available in multiple systems and present it to physicians through a single sign-on and single user interface that provides a customized view for each physician.
"Healthcare providers have been waiting a long time for a product that will integrate patient information from multiple source systems, and make this information available in real-time to care givers from any location," says Ken Rardin, President, and CEO for Park City Solutions. "I believe our emPOWERnet(TM) suite of healthcare applications is the foundation technology to connect the healthcare enterprise, both inside and outside the walls of the hospital."
About Asante Health System
Formed in 1996 from existing independent entities, Asante is the largest comprehensive health system between Eugene, Oregon and Sacramento, California. Asante's expansive healthcare region spans over 36,800 square miles. Its operating sites are located in two southern Oregon Counties: Jackson and Josephine, an area known as the Rogue Valley. With over 3,700 employees and 400 medical staff representing all specialties, Asante is the largest year-round employer in the Rogue Valley.
Asante is committed to excellence, as affirmed by its Mission: Asante exists to provide quality health care services in a compassionate manner valued by the communities we serve.
Asante is comprised of four entities: Rogue Valley Medical Center (RVMC), a 305-bed regional medical center located in Medford, Oregon to provide both tertiary and acute care; Three Rivers Community Hospital (TRCH), a 98-bed acute care facility in Grants Pass, Oregon; Hearthstone, a 151-bed skilled nursing facility in Medford, Oregon; and Genesis Recovery Center, a medically-based chemical dependency treatment center in Central Point, Oregon.
As a comprehensive health center, Asante provides care across all service lines. Asante's Centers of Excellence include: Rogue Valley Medical Center's outstanding Cardiac Center (RVMC is the only hospital on the west coast and 1 of 16 hospitals nationwide to be named for 4 of the last 5 years by Solucient as one of the top 100 Cardiovascular Hospitals in the nation), Pediatrics, (RVMC's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the only NICU in the nine county region); The Rogue Valley Joint Replacement Center has also earned distinction as a national visitation site. Three Rivers Community Hospital's Family Birth Center (one of the first hospitals named by the World Health Organization as "Baby Friendly", as well as the first hospital in the world to be named as "Mother Friendly"), and RVMC's Dubs Cancer Center (which, in alliance with Oregon Health Sciences University, operates as the southern branch of the Oregon Cancer Center for cancer research).
Rogue Valley Medical Center is both Asante's flagship and southern Oregon and northern California's only regional medical center. Its service volume is reflected by its 14,000-inpatient discharges and 433,000 outpatient visits each year. RVMC's five top service lines are cardiology, oncology, surgery, labor and delivery, and neurosciences and orthopedics services, as identified through hospital discharge data. RVMC's service lines have been stable and/or increasing each year, including RVMC's Emergency Services that continue to grow by a demanding 4-8% annually. RVMC is nearing completion of a $110 million expansion project, adding 250,000 square feet of new space and renovating 50,000 square feet of existing space to accommodate the anticipated growth in each of its medical service lines.
