Cybernet Medical Awarded U.S. Patents Covering Web-Based Electronic Medical Recording and Home Care Telemedicine Store and Forward Devices

Posted on: Thursday, 18 August 2005, 18:00 CDT

Cybernet Medical, a leading developer of electronic record keeping and biometric monitoring technology supporting outpatient care, today announced the award of U.S. patent 6,875,174, which with US Patents 6,723,046, 6,375,614, and 6,050,940 covers the broad implementation of the MedStar(TM) Internet and telephone-based telemedical products and the web-based electronic medical record services that support them. This patent is the latest awarded to Cybernet Medical's groundbreaking Internet-medicine monitoring system, which first was patented on June 17, 1996.

"Cybernet Medical was the first to recognize the significance of linking remotely collected physiological data to the Internet, and continues to lead this field through the introduction of lower-cost data collection devices and online means for healthcare professionals to monitor chronic care patients," says Dr. Charles J. Jacobus, President of Cybernet Systems Corporation. "We are positioned to help our customers set-up and run their own infrastructure, or we can operate the data infrastructure for our customers on a leased basis."

The MedStar system integrates secure web-based Electronic Patient Records, Interactive Voice Response, Patient Activity Log (PDA-based structured patient question system), and vital signs measurement that supports disease management of hypertension, cardiac diagnostics, congestive heart failure, diabetes, COPD, asthma, and wound care management. MedStar monitoring saves money and time for hospitals, home care organizations, and physician practices that provide care to the chronically ill and discharged CHF and diabetes patients.
