WASHINGTON, Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Although sexuality has gradually "come out of the closet" -- we talk about it, see it on TV, and read about it perhaps more than ever before in our daily lives -- reliable education about healthy sexuality for women is still lacking.
In response, Nurture Your Nature: Inspiring Women's Sexual Wellness (http://www.nurtureyournature.org/) aims to help increase the meaningful and effective communication about sexuality between women and their health care professionals, as well as between women and their sexual partners.
"We know that women closely link sexual satisfaction and desire to overall good health and happiness," said Sheryl Kingsberg, PhD, NYN Advisory Committee Co-chair, Associate Professor of Reproductive Biology, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and on staff at MacDonald Women's Hospital of University Hospitals of Cleveland. "Learning how to effectively communicate sexual issues and concerns to your healthcare provider and your partner is extremely important."
With an initial focus on menopausal women and their sexuality issues, program sponsors hope to broaden the reach over time, to include all sexuality issues, affecting both men and women, and throughout the life span.
Offered through the program are publications geared toward women and their partners, paired with publications whose intended audience is healthcare providers; a dynamic Web site with valuable information, timely news, up-to- date resources, and links to other organizations and materials; and an advisory committee comprised of experts in the field who vet materials and are available for media inquires.
To learn more about the program: * Visit the Web site (http://www.nurtureyournature.org/) * Participate in a live Web chat with renowned sexology expert Sheryl Kingsberg, PhD, by logging onto http://www.healthywomen.org/ on August 31st at 8pm.
