HealthAllies(R), Inc., a UnitedHealth Group (NYSE:UNH) company, has entered into an agreement with Jenny Craig(R) to offer preferred pricing on Jenny Craig weight loss programs to HealthAllies' members. HealthAllies is a discount program that offers savings on health-related products and services to more than 7 million members nationwide. Jenny Craig offers a personalized approach to helping members achieve their weight loss goals; the company offers comprehensive, science-based programs based on healthy choices, an active lifestyle, and emotional balance. HealthAllies members will receive a 20 percent to 50 percent discount on these weight loss and weight maintenance programs.
Thomas Sullivan, general manager of HealthAllies, explains that Jenny Craig is a fitting addition to the HealthAllies network of health and wellness providers. "Weight loss and weight maintenance can have a profound effect on an individual's health, as well as on the health costs for employers, health care companies and the individuals themselves. Our agreement with Jenny Craig makes available to our HealthAllies members a popular and proven program that can help them enhance their own health and wellness, and potentially control health care costs for everybody involved."
Jenny Craig has several programs designed to work with individuals to meet their weight control goals. All Jenny Craig programs offer planned or personalized menus, a personalized activity and motivational plan, one-on-one consultations, weight loss success manuals, and 24-hour support. Individuals can participate at a local Jenny Craig Centre, or can choose JennyDirect, which brings the program to their homes.
In addition to discounts on the Jenny Craig program and other weight management services, HealthAllies offers savings typically ranging 10 percent to 50 percent on vision and dental care, alternative care, smoking cessation, long-term care services and more.
According to Sullivan, interest in wellness programs is increasing among employers, health plans and individuals. "Our customers are looking for ways to make their health care spending more efficient and effective. Weight management and other wellness programs are a great place to focus that effort, because positive results there affect many other aspects of an individual's health."
