Ventiv Health's The Franklin Group Unit Wins Contract To Provide Medicare Part D Education Service To Top 10 Pharmaceutical Manufacturer

SOMERSET, N.J., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Ventiv Health, Inc. announced today that The Franklin Group (TFG) was awarded a contract to provide one of the country's largest pharmaceutical manufacturers with Medicare Part D educational and enrollment services. This new service recently launched by The Franklin Group was designed to help eligible patients in the client's patient assistance program transition to Medicare's soon-to- be-launched prescription drug benefit initiative that goes into effect in January 2006.
While numerous drug makers have established their own patient assistance programs for the poor, Medicare Part D will impact how these charitable programs operate and how the government regulates them. Seniors who are eligible for Medicare Part D will also need guidance about how best to access medicines under the new structure.
Under Franklin Group's Medicare Educational Services Program, pharmaceutical clients can build awareness and provide unbiased education on Medicare Part D to eligible patients about how to qualify for and access prescription medicine. The Franklin Group provides these services through various venues including direct mail programs or call centers with live, trained customer service administrators. The new Franklin Group program complements an existing service program from Ventiv's The Therapeutics Institute on Medicare Reimbursement Strategy, led by Vice President and Managing Director, Joy Morrell.
In conjunction with the launch of the new program, The Franklin Group has named John Doster Vice President, Marketing and Business Development of Patient Assistance Programs to lead the launch of the Medicare Part D initiative. John is also responsible for raising awareness and education of The Franklin Group's Patient Assistance and Reimbursement programs among pharmaceutical companies. He joined Ventiv from Sanofi-Aventis Pharmaceuticals SA where he held various senior management sales and marketing positions.
Bill Shearer, Executive VP and COO, Ventiv Pharma Services, said, "The pace at which we are introducing new services to clients is reflective of the pace of change taking place in the pharmaceutical industry today. Medicare Part D is a complex regulation that all drug manufacturers will need to comply with. Because of the intricacies of establishing, monitoring and administering patient assistance programs under certain regulatory guidelines, Medicare Part D has been a growing area concern for our clients. We are pleased that our team of experts can provide an additional service to clients and their patients who need to obtain prescription medication under this new program."
