Aug. 26--TOKYO -- Major drug maker Eisai Co. said Friday it has formed a strategic alliance with a Swedish bio venture to develop immunotherapy for Alzheimer's disease.
The deal will give Eisai the preferential right to use BioArctic Neuroscience Inc.'s research results on Alzheimer's disease, the Tokyo-based firm said.
Eisai has been actively forming alliances with outside entities to expand its product line-up in the neurology area.
Eisai says sales of Aricept, which is used to treat Alzheimer's disease, grew by 15 percent in fiscal 2004 over the previous year.
