Residents can sample a healthy smorgasbord of fitness options from Pilates to kick boxing this weekend in Carol Stream.
The Carol Stream Park District is gearing up for its first Health and Fitness Fair Saturday at the Simkus Recreation Center on County Farm and Lies roads.
More than two dozen vendors will be at the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., giving away products and free health information.
Residents can get free massages and spinal screenings throughout the day, or try a sampling of the park district's lineup of classes, including kick boxing, tai chi and yoga.
Brian Romes, the park district's program manager, said the new initiative was organized to help residents learn about local resources available to live healthy lives.
"We just want to show residents how easy it is to work out," he said.
There will be several opportunities to win prizes and raffles, and kids will have a chance to test their skills - and win a $25 gift certificate in the process - in Hula-Hoop or skipping contests.
The program is free. For more information, call the park district at (630) 784-6100.
