University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. Expands Agreement With Allscripts

Posted on: Thursday, 1 September 2005, 18:00 CDT

Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare today announced that University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. (UFJPI) has expanded its current contract to provide a full Electronic Health Record (EHR) to more than 300 physicians.

UFJPI experienced immediate positive results from the initial deployment of the TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record, including the ability to handle increased patient visits, significantly reduce calls from pharmacies and offer physicians access to information anywhere at anytime, improving the quality of care for patients.

"As we continue to deploy TouchWorks Electronic Health Record, many of our physicians are requesting to automate all of their daily tasks," said Mari Beth Anderson, Director of Information Systems at University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. "Allscripts modular approach has created a user-friendly learning experience. The Electronic Health Record is becoming a standard of care for organizations like ours and we felt it was critical to take the next step towards a paperless environment."

The modularity of the Allscripts solution provides the ability to deploy an entire EHR or individual modules. This flexibility enables practices, like UFJPI to customize their Electronic Health Record deployment strategy.

UFJPI is also adding functionality that will enhance connectivity and will enable physicians to share critical patient information across their 31-clinic network. Physicians will be able to order lab tests and decrease the turnaround time for results review.

"Deploying an Electronic Health Record successfully is not just about software. It's about understanding how physicians, associated caregivers, support personnel and key processes need to change to get the software used. University of Florida Jacksonville Physicians, Inc. designed a modular deployment that fit their unique needs and the results speak for themselves," said Glen Tullman, Chief Executive Officer of Allscripts. "UFJPI is setting the standard for high quality healthcare in the State of Florida."
