Shriners Hospitals Offer to Help Young Victims of Hurricane Katrina

Shriners Hospitals for Children stands ready to help young victims of Hurricane Katrina, according to Ralph W. Semb, Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the network of 22 pediatric specialty hospitals.
Teams of SHC medical professionals will be ready to travel to ravaged areas, in conjunction with their local community disaster/relief agencies and assist if needed.
In addition, Shriners Hospitals in Houston, Galveston, Texas (burns) and Shreveport, La. are ready to provide immediate medical support. In fact, we recently learned that the Houston and Shreveport Shriners Hospitals have already received a total of six referrals of children from shelters in Louisiana.
Chiefs of Staff at the Shriners Hospitals in Tampa, Fla., and St. Louis have reported they have bed space available for hurricane victims in need of the type of pediatric medical care normally provided by Shriners Hospitals.
