MAXIMUS Signs $17 Million Contract to Administer Georgia Healthy Families Program

Posted on: Wednesday, 7 September 2005, 06:00 CDT

MAXIMUS (NYSE:MMS), the nation's leading provider of Medicaid managed care enrollment broker services, announced today that the Company has signed a one-year, $17 million contract with the State of Georgia Department of Community Health to provide enrollment services for the Georgia Healthy Families Program. This new, competitively-awarded contract contains three one-year option years for contract renewal that, if exercised, could bring the total contract value to more that $60 million.

Under this contract, MAXIMUS will serve as the State's enrollment broker assisting certain eligible Medicaid and "PeachCare for Kids" (the State's Children's Health Insurance Program) members to enroll into the Georgia Healthy Families Program. Georgia Healthy Families is the State's mandatory managed care program, a full-risk care management system that provides an array of comprehensive healthcare services to eligible members through at least two Care Management Organizations (CMOs) in each of six regions into which the State has been divided. To improve understanding of the choices available, MAXIMUS will operate a toll-free call center, offer self-service enrollment options over the Internet, and conduct extensive community outreach. These efforts will help ensure that individuals make informed decisions in their selection of the CMO and Primary Care Provider that best serves the unique health needs of their family.

"MAXIMUS is excited to take the many lessons that we have learned offering effective enrollment services to low-income health care recipients and applying them in Georgia," said Lynn P. Davenport, CEO of MAXIMUS. "We look forward to a strong partnership with the State as we assist them to achieve their goal of enrolling more than one million residents of the Peach State into the Georgia Healthy Families Program by December 2006."

MAXIMUS currently provides similar enrollment services to 11 States, including California, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Massachusetts, Michigan, New York, Iowa, Texas, Vermont, and Virginia. Since 1996, the Company has enrolled approximately 28 million Medicaid and State Children's Health Insurance program recipients into managed care.

MAXIMUS is one of America's leading government services companies devoted to providing program management, consulting and information technology services. The Company has more than 5,100 employees located in more than 280 offices in the United States, Canada and Australia. In 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004 MAXIMUS was selected by Forbes Magazine as one of the Best 200 Small Companies in America for that year.
